Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might be wondering before getting started

A Few Things to Know

Starting therapy often comes with questions. Whether you're wondering what your first session will be like, how scheduling works, or what to expect financially, I've answered some of the most common questions below.

If you don't see your question here, you're always welcome to reach out.

Getting Started

What can I expect during my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what's been happening in your life, your relationships and experiences, and what you'd like to get out of our work together. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly where to begin.

How do I know if we're a good fit?

Finding the right therapist matters. Our initial consultation gives us a chance to briefly talk about what you're looking for, answer any questions you have, and determine whether I may be a good fit for your needs.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions so we have time to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your needs, progress, and goals.

How long are sessions?

Initial appointments are 75 minutes. Ongoing individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes, exclusively. Sessions are provided through a secure telehealth platform.

Where can I see you for therapy?

I am licensed in California, South Carolina, and Utah and can provide virtual therapy to clients located in these states at the time of their session.

Do you work with couples or families?

Couples and family therapy are considered on a case-by-case basis. You can contact me to discuss whether your needs would be a good fit.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

I require at least 24 hours advance notice to cancel appointments.  If you notify me less than 24 hours before the appointment, you are required to pay the full cost of the session.

Fees &
Insurance

What are your fees?

Initial Intake Appointment | 75 minutes | $200
Returning Appointment | 50 minutes | $170

Do you accept insurance?

Autumn & Oak is an out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance directly. This allows therapy to be guided by your individual needs rather than insurance requirements. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I'm happy to provide a superbill that you can submit for possible reimbursement.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. HSA or FSA cards can generally be used to pay for therapy services. Because individual plans vary, you may want to confirm eligibility with your plan administrator.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information your insurance company may require for out-of-network reimbursement. I can provide one for you to submit directly to your insurance company. Reimbursement is determined by your individual plan.

Do you offer a Good Faith Estimate?

Yes. Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or who choose not to use insurance are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of their care. Before beginning services, I will provide you with an estimate of the anticipated costs of therapy based on the information available at that time.

Because the length and frequency of therapy can vary depending on your individual needs, the estimate is not a guarantee of the total cost of treatment. You may request an updated Good Faith Estimate at any time.

Still Have Questions?

It's completely okay to have questions before beginning therapy. If there's something you'd like to know that isn't answered here, feel free to reach out.
